Winter Update

Wow, Summit County ski areas are all open and OPEN in a BIG WAY!.

Arapahoe Basin opened in mid-October and Breckenridge, Keystone Resort, and Copper Mountain opened in mid-November. Some ski resorts have even received over 100 inches so far.

The Frisco tubing hill and the Nordic Center are open, as well as the 2-below zero sleigh rides at the Frisco Adventure Park.

Breckenridge will be hosting the Dew Tour again and Breck is the only winter stop of the Dew Tour, and from Dec. 12-15 world-class freeskiers and snowboarders will compete in this official Olympic selection event. Events include ski and snowboard superpipe and slopestyle on Breck's world-famous, award-winning Freeway park and half-pipe. With the addition of slopestyle to the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, the Dew Tour brings increased excitement as American athletes go at it for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.

Check out the new lift and terrain at Breckenridge's Peak 6, I think it looks great for all abilities.

So pray for snow, do the Hanky Loonda snow dance, ask Uller for a big snow season and we'll see you here in the beautiful Colorado Mountains real soon.

THE EVENT FACTS

Breckenridge's Ullr Festival

This week-long winter carnival at Breckenridge pays tribute to Ullr (pronounced "Ooll-er"), the Norse god of snow. Wacky games, skating, snow sculptures, parades, and kids' events make for a spirited time.

The locals believe that if they party hard enough then Ullr will bring them a prosperous winter season, and if you want to catch them in truly high spirits then this is one of the weeks to visit. The event takes place just after the International Snow Sculpting Competition, so the town is decorated with elaborate sculptures and there's a party atmosphere in the air.

The parade is a classic small-town affair with local skiers, shops, and restaurants entering floats, culminating in the crowning of the Breckenridge King and Queen.
